Virar is a city in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. It is administered by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation and is under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The area is surrounded by Dahisar, Nala Sopara and Vasai.
Connectivity

Virar-Alibaug Corridor Project has been undertaken by the MMRDA which would improve connectivity with Alibaug, via road and metro. This alignment is slated to connect the NH 17 (Kerala-Mangalore-Goa), NH 4 (Chennai to Mumbai), NH 3 (Delhi-Agra-Mumbai) and NH8 (Mumbai to Ahmedabad). This route shall reduce the commuting time to an 1 hour.
The Mumbai Central Railway Station is 76.3 kilometres from here via the NH 3 and NH 8. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is 59 kilometres away along the NH8.
